To define detox, you can think of the detox centers where they help people kick their drug habits. Detox also removes toxins from your body, but it focuses more on healing the liver and kidneys.
Types of Detoxes and Cleanses
Here again, you’ll find both terms jumbled together because that’s just how it seems to work when it comes to doing cleanses and detoxes on your own.

When it comes to foot detox vs. full body cleanse – you need to consider that the foot detox is only going to pull out certain toxins, instead of flushing your whole system as a cleanse does.
1. Liver Cleanse
The liver is an important part of your body, as it is one of the organs that does the most work at cleaning your body of toxins. You want to make sure that you keep it running its best, which is why a liver detox would come in handy.
You do want to consider the fact that the liver is made to heal itself. That means that there could be harmful effects to using liver detoxes. Make sure to do thorough research on liver health and cleansing before trying a liver cleanse.
2. Colon Cleanse
One of the main reasons people do juice and herbal cleanses is to clean out the colon. This is an important part of your digestive system, and it can get clogged up over time. Some people use enemas to flush the colon, but a juice cleanse can sometimes be more effective.
3. Juice Cleanse
These usually last a minimum of three days and have you drinking different juice blends for all three meals of the day. The blends are specially formulated to help clean your system and ensure you’re still getting the proper nutrients.
Green juices and smoothies are used in all juice cleanses, but you can also go on a juice cleanse that requires only green smoothies. Smoothies, unlike juice cleanses, give you more fiber to your system, which can help clean you out and keep you regular. The green smoothie cleanse also lets you keep eating regular (healthy) foods, instead of living off juice alone.
4. Master Cleanse
People have been using the master cleanse for decades. It’s recently become more popular. This cleanse has you drink a mixture of cayenne pepper, lemon water, and maple syrup. You also drink an herbal tea. You follow this strict diet for ten days.
However, this is a short-term fix. While it does flush your body, you will only feel the results for a short time before you’ll feel like you need another cleanse.
5. Garcinia Cambogia Cleanse
If you haven’t heard of this herb before, it is also known as tamarind. Garcinia can be found in supplement form, and it works as a natural laxative, as well as a diuretic. So, not only does it help cleanse your body of waste, but it also will help you lose weight.
6. Foot Detox
There are foot detoxes that are just a pad your stick to your foot that is filled with a concoction of herbs. These herbs suck the toxins out of your body through the bottoms of your feet. People swear by them, but there’s no scientific proof they work.
There are also ionic foot baths that use ions to remove toxins from your feet. You put Epsom salts in with warm water, plug the machine in, and let the vibrations take you away. Again, like the foot pad – some people swear this works to pull toxins out and others just like that it makes their feet soft.
7. Epsom Salts
It could be the Epsom salts in that ionic food bath, as opposed to the ions, that is actually detoxing the body. Soaking in a warm (not hot) bath of Epsom salts will pull toxins out of your body. It’s also soothing for the skin.
Since with many of these cleanses, you’re limiting what you’re taking into your body, you could be risking malnourishment or vitamin deficiencies.
You always need to do what you can to make sure that you are getting the proper calories and proteins to help you get through each day at full capacity.
Many cleanses, after a few days, will leave you feeling groggy, but that doesn’t mean they’re harming you either.
